History

In 1949 Essmann + Schaefer was founded by Wilhelm Essmann Sr. and Paul Schaefer Sr. and the success story of the family company began:

Essmann + Schaefer took over, as the first production facility in Germany, the professional manufacturing of cutting and creasing rules. Thanks to higher quality standards, constant technical innovation and consequent marketability, the company was able to serve the consistently growing demands from printers and the packaging industry and could steadily strengthen their market position.

Today, the traditional company is managed by the 4th generation, namely Daniel Kämmerling-Essmann and Horst Peter Kämmerling-Essmann.

It was out of this conviction that Wilhelm Essmann Sr. and Paul Schaefer Sr. founded the first company in 1949 for the professional manufacture of cutting and creasing rules in Germany. Today, Essmann + Schaefer is one of the leading companies in the production of cutting, scoring, creasing and perforating rules of all kinds. But that’s not all; we also have cutting rules for labels, foils, cardboard, corrugated board and other materials.

Every day, new creations are developed with our tools, which truly impress in terms of their form, design and accuracy of fit.

And Essmann + Schaefer is still in family hands to this very day – with Horst Peter Kämmerling-Essmann and Daniel Kämmerling-Essmann in the fourth generation. That is why we know exactly how important trust, reliability and quality awareness are, and why we always base our work on these values. Not only is this appreciated by our customers, but also by our nearly 60 employees at the Wuppertal-Ronsdorf site.
